Terms of Service
Last updated: 28 October 2026
These Terms of Service (the "Terms") are a binding agreement between you and LinkUp ("LinkUp", "we", "us"), which operates the Linkup website, apps and related services (the "Service"). By creating an account, ticking the box at sign-up, or using the Service in any way, you confirm that you have read, understood and accepted these Terms, our Privacy Policy and our Community Guidelines. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
Please read sections 4 (Our role), 13 (Disclaimers), 14 (Limitation of liability), 15 (Release), 16 (Indemnity) and 17 (Disputes) carefully. They limit our responsibility and, for users in the United States, require individual arbitration and waive class actions.
1. Who can use Linkup
We may ask you to confirm your age or identity at any time and may suspend your account until you do. Giving false information is a serious breach of these Terms.
- You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of legal majority where you live if that is higher. The Service is strictly for adults.
- You must be legally able to enter into a binding contract and not be barred from using the Service under any applicable law.
- You must not have been convicted of, or be subject to any court order relating to, a sexual offence, violent crime, stalking or harassment.
- You must not have previously been removed from the Service by us, unless we have given you written permission to return.
- You may have only one account, and it must represent you, a real person, using your real age and your own photos.
2. Your account
- You are responsible for everything that happens under your account and for keeping your login details secret.
- Tell us immediately if you believe your account has been used without your permission.
- Keep the information in your profile accurate and up to date.
- We may refuse, suspend or reclaim a display name or account at our discretion.
3. Changes to the Service and to these Terms
We are constantly improving the Service and may add, change, limit or remove any feature at any time, temporarily or permanently, with or without notice.
We may update these Terms. If a change is material, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. If you keep using the Service after the change takes effect, you accept the updated Terms. If you do not agree, you must stop using the Service and delete your account.
4. Our role: we only make suggestions
LinkUp is a platform that helps adults meet. Matches, introductions, "people on your wavelength", ideas for things to do, invitations, mood check-ins and AI coach suggestions are recommendations only. You alone decide whether to contact, trust or meet anyone, and you are solely responsible for your interactions with other members, online and offline.
We do not conduct criminal background checks, identity checks or screening of our members, and we do not verify the statements members make about themselves. A "verified" badge only means a member uploaded a photo through our photo step; it is not a guarantee of identity, intentions, character or safety.
We are not responsible for the conduct, statements, content, intentions or actions of any member or third party, including any violation of law, these Terms or our Community Guidelines by them, whether on the Service or when you meet in person.
Always follow our Safety tips. Until you know someone well, meet only in busy public places, never at home or anywhere private; tell a friend where you are going; arrange your own transport; and never send money or share financial or private details. If you ever feel unsafe, leave and contact local emergency services.
5. AI features
Some features use artificial intelligence, such as reply ideas, conversation starters, story reply ideas and activity ideas. AI output is generated automatically, may be inaccurate, inappropriate or unsuitable for your situation, and is never advice (including legal, medical, psychological, financial or safety advice). Suggestions are drafts only: nothing is sent unless you choose to send it, and you are responsible for anything you send. You can turn the AI coach off at any time.
6. Activities, places, events and third-party information
Ideas for today may include films, books, recipes, cafés, places and events that come from third-party sources. We do not own, operate, organise, endorse or check them, and we do not guarantee that they exist, are open, are accurate, are safe or are suitable for you. Times, prices, locations and availability can change. Always check details with the organiser or venue yourself. Any visit, booking or purchase is solely between you and that third party, at your own risk.
The Service may contain links to third-party websites and services. We are not responsible for their content, policies or practices.
7. Your content
You keep ownership of the photos, text, stories, messages and other content you post ("Your Content"). You grant LinkUp a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, transferable and sublicensable licence to host, store, copy, process, adapt (for example resize or compress), display and transmit Your Content, only as needed to operate, secure, improve and provide the Service to you and to the audiences you choose. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies we must keep for legal, safety or backup reasons, and content you have already shared with others in messages.
You confirm that you own Your Content or have every right needed to post it, that it does not infringe anyone's rights and that it complies with these Terms and the law. You are solely responsible for Your Content. We may remove or restrict any content at any time, for any reason, without notice.
8. What you must not do
- Use the Service if you are under 18, or post, request or share anything involving minors in a sexual, exploitative or harmful way. We report suspected child exploitation to the authorities.
- Harass, threaten, stalk, bully, intimidate, defame, discriminate against or abuse anyone.
- Post or send nudity, sexually explicit content, violent or gory content, hate speech, or content that promotes self-harm, terrorism or illegal activity.
- Send sexual messages or images to anyone who has not clearly asked for them.
- Impersonate anyone, create fake or duplicate accounts, misrepresent your age, identity, relationship status or intentions, or use photos that are not of you.
- Ask for, offer or send money, gifts, investments, cryptocurrency, loans or financial information; promote, advertise or sell anything; or run scams of any kind, including romance scams.
- Offer or seek sexual services, escorting or any form of commercial sex or human trafficking.
- Share anyone's private information (such as address, phone number, workplace or photos) without their consent.
- Record, screenshot and share another member's content or conversations outside the Service to embarrass, expose or harm them.
- Use bots, scripts, scraping, automated access or data mining; collect information about other members; or reverse engineer, interfere with or overload the Service.
- Break security, access accounts or data that are not yours, or upload malware.
- Break any law, or help or encourage anyone else to do any of the above.
9. Safety, moderation and enforcement
We may, but are not obliged to, monitor, review or moderate content, profiles and activity. We may investigate any suspected breach and, at our sole discretion and without notice, remove content, limit features, warn, suspend or permanently ban any account, and block access from any device or network, whether or not the conduct took place on the Service.
We may keep and disclose any information, including messages, reports and account data, if we believe in good faith that it is necessary to comply with the law or a legal request, to enforce these Terms, to protect the safety, rights or property of anyone, or to prevent fraud or harm. We cooperate with law enforcement.
Our decision to act, or not to act, on a report does not make us responsible for any member's conduct.
10. Paid features
- Paid memberships and features are sold through our payment partner, which acts as the merchant of record and may apply its own terms. Prices are shown before you pay and may include taxes.
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period at the then-current price until you cancel. You can cancel any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current period.
- Except where the law requires otherwise, payments are non-refundable, including for partial periods, unused features, or if your account is suspended or removed for breaking these Terms.
- If you live in the EU, UK or another country that gives you a right to withdraw from online purchases, you agree that paid features start immediately and that you lose that right once they have been provided, to the extent the law allows.
- We may change prices and paid features. Price changes apply from your next billing period, and we will tell you beforehand.
11. Our rights in the Service
The Service, including its software, design, text, graphics, logos and trademarks (other than Your Content), belongs to LinkUp or its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. We give you a personal, limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the Service for its intended, non-commercial purpose in line with these Terms. You must not copy, modify, distribute, sell or create works based on any part of the Service.
If you send us feedback or ideas, we may use them freely without any obligation to you.
12. Ending your use
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time in Preferences. We may suspend or terminate your account or access at any time, for any reason or no reason, with or without notice, to the fullest extent the law allows. Sections that by their nature should continue (including 4 to 8 and 11 to 19) survive the end of these Terms.
13. Disclaimers
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service and everything on it, including matches, suggestions, AI output and third-party information, is provided "as is" and "as available", without any warranty of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, accuracy, availability, security or that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free.
We do not promise that you will find a match, a relationship or a friend, or that anyone you meet is who they say they are, is safe, or shares your intentions.
14. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, LinkUp and its owners, officers, employees, contractors, partners and suppliers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill or opportunity, or for emotional distress, arising out of or related to the Service or these Terms.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any damage, loss, injury, harm or claim arising from the conduct of any member or third party, on or off the Service, including in-person meetings, or from any activity, place or event suggested on the Service.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for all claims relating to the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) USD 100 (or the equivalent in your currency).
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law, such as liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or your statutory rights as a consumer. If you live in the EU or UK, we are responsible for foreseeable loss caused by our breach of these Terms or our failure to use reasonable care.
15. Release
Your disputes with other members are between you and them. To the fullest extent permitted by law, you release LinkUp and its owners, officers, employees and partners from all claims, demands and damages of every kind, known and unknown, arising out of or connected with any dispute with another member or third party.
If you are a California resident, you waive California Civil Code section 1542, which says: "A general release does not extend to claims that the creditor or releasing party does not know or suspect to exist in his or her favor at the time of executing the release and that, if known by him or her, would have materially affected his or her settlement with the debtor or released party." You also waive any similar law elsewhere.
16. Indemnity
To the fullest extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless LinkUp and its owners, officers, employees, contractors and partners from any claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from Your Content, your use of the Service, your interactions with other members or third parties, or your breach of these Terms or of any law or anyone's rights.
17. Disputes and governing law
Talk to us first. Before starting any formal claim, contact us and try to resolve the dispute informally for at least 60 days.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the country in which LinkUp is established, without regard to conflict of law rules. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you may bring proceedings in your local courts where the law gives you that right. Users in the EU may also use the European Commission's online dispute resolution platform.
Arbitration for users in the United States: any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service will be resolved by final and binding individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, except that either party may bring an individual claim in small claims court, and either party may seek an injunction for misuse of intellectual property. You and LinkUp waive the right to a jury trial and the right to take part in a class action, class arbitration or representative proceeding. You may opt out of arbitration by notifying us within 30 days of first accepting these Terms. If the class action waiver is found unenforceable, the arbitration agreement does not apply to that dispute.
To the extent the law allows, any claim must be brought within one year after it arises, or it is permanently barred.
18. General
- These Terms, the Privacy Policy and the Community Guidelines are the entire agreement between you and LinkUp about the Service.
- If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, it will be limited to the minimum extent needed and the rest stays in full effect.
- Our failure to enforce any right is not a waiver of it.
- You may not transfer your rights under these Terms. We may transfer ours, including as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets.
- We are not responsible for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control.
- These Terms may be translated. If there is any difference, the English version prevails, except where the law requires otherwise.
19. Contact
You can reach us in the app (photo menu, "Tell us what fits") or through the Safety page. For anything urgent or dangerous, contact your local emergency services first.
